When Bill Clinton Comes To Snowmass

July 20th, 2007 at 07:48am Post Staff 3

SNOWMASS, COLORADO (Post Time News)–Former President Bill Clinton just can’t get enough of Aspen and Snowmass.

The last living Democratic President–and one of only two still extant–is making a return trip here for the 25th Anniversary celebration of the Rocky Mountain Institute in August 9-10, 2007. Clinton was last in Aspen last month for the Aspen Institute Aspen Ideas Festival–and, not coincidentally, for big-ticket fundraisers at Matsuhisa restaurant and Belly Up Aspen.

Activities over a two-day period include a free, public RMI Quest for Solutions (RMIQ) presentation as well as an all-day Symposium in Aspen and a Gala at the Peace Ranch in Basalt.

In the mid-1990s, RMI worked for the President in an effort to green the White House and the Old Executive Building. Today, RMI is working with him again on the Clinton Climate Initiative. Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) applies the Clinton Foundation’s business-oriented approach to fight climate change in practical, measurable, and significant ways.

The first phase of the initiative is focused on reducing greenhouse-gas emissions in the
world’s largest cities. RMI will be offering technical expertise focusing on a whole systems approach to making buildings more energy efficient as part as CCI¹s first program, an Energy Efficiency Building Retrofit Program.

Joining Clinton at the RMI confab wll be New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, Christine Loh of Hong Kong¹s Civic Exchange, Boston Scientific’s cofounder John Abele, to name a few. RMI is not only celebrating its 25-year milestone but looking ahead to how it will be involved as a change agent in the next 25 years.
